About The Marathon For Gaby

In August 2006, I signed up with Team Diabetes and committed to raise a minimum of $6,100 to support the work of the Canadian Diabetes Association, including leading-edge diabetes research, diabetes education in the community, plus local programs and national advocacy.

I had initially signed up to run the Walt Disney World Marathon in Florida with Team Diabetes in January 2008. However, a persistent pain in my foot prevented me from training for this event, so I changed my target race to Reykjavík, Iceland!

This project has always been important to me (I have Type 2 Diabetes), but it has taken an even greater importance recently. On February 5, 2008, my mother passed away at the age of 64 from diabetes-related heart problems.

On August 23, 2008, my girlfriend Michelle and I will be running the “Marathon for Gaby” in memory of my mom.
